Overview
A specialty car born as SUBARU's flagship. The name comes from Alcyone, the brightest star of the Pleiades (subaru in Japanese). It carried advanced features such as aerodynamic performance among the best in the world (Cd 0.29) and speed-sensitive power steering. SUBARU's first horizontally opposed six-cylinder 2.7-liter engine was later fitted, raising its presence as a specialty car pioneering high-speed four-wheel drive. The Alcyone SVX went on sale later.
