Overview
The first-generation Rex went on sale as a full model change of the SUBARU R-2, adopting the rear-engine, rear-drive layout inherited from the SUBARU 360. The 500 cc Rex 5 and then the 550 cc Rex 550 followed. The second-generation FF Rex switched to front-wheel drive, and the third generation improved comfort and ease of driving. Later, the REX, SUBARU's first compact SUV supplied OEM by Daihatsu Motor, was announced.
