A coupe exported as the 100NX, launched as the coupe model of the seventh-generation Sunny. Turning away from the sharp image of earlier models toward the feel of a lovable casual coupe, it is regarded as an unusual presence in the Sunny lineage. It was planned for women in the North American market, and its curvy styling was by NDI, the North American design studio. Motifs of the Z32 300ZX appear throughout, and a version with a removable T-bar roof was offered. The catchphrase taimu mashin kamo shirenai, it might be a time machine, and a TV commercial with computer graphics of a personified NX Coupe transforming also drew attention.
