When Yokoo moved from the drivetrain design team to the department that oversees vehicle development as a whole, he expected to be taught something, but was instead ordered to go to Australia first. He met the owner of a crocodile farm, which had grown the business with Land Cruisers since its early days, and saw how the vehicles were used, driving for hours on washboard ruts and unpaved roads crossed by streams after rain.
