Story

It was the world's first to adopt a "bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery" as the drive battery, sharpening response to the accelerator. An emergency power supply mode that can draw electricity even during a blackout is standard on every model.

Something like a people's car

Whereas the first generation pushed fuel economy to the limit, the second was built to value ease of driving and letting anyone drive with confidence and safety, in addition to fuel economy. Development leader Suzuki said he wanted the Aqua to be something like a people's car. The overall length stayed the same as the previous model while the wheelbase was extended by 50 mm to enlarge the rear seat, and an emergency power-supply function was made standard on every car.
