Story

The exterior was revised to suit the WRC rules of the time, and cooling and aerodynamics were refined. It was the first Lan-Evo to move the front number plate to the left, and its rear wing became a two-tier one. Mitsubishi's works WRC cars based on the production Lan-Evo ended with this generation.

A front bumper from Nakaya's drawing

With the Evo VI, even more of Nakaya's opinions were taken on board. The novel shape of the front bumper came from a design drawing Nakaya had made. For the Tommi Mäkinen Edition, offered at the very end of the run, Nakaya also handled most of the bumper design and the driving setup. Mitsubishi's works WRC car also raced with a front bumper resembling that of this edition's production car.
