Story

Born from customers' regret over the end of Kei production, this generation came out as a tall-wagon crossover, a genre unknown to Suzuki. It drew orders far beyond its target of 5,000 units a month.

A name proposed by the design department

The Hustler name was a proposal from the design department. It was chosen because the image of the name matched the car's design and product character well, and in an internal call for names it won by a wide margin of votes. Numazawa said there was no intention of tying it directly to the former off-road motorcycles, but that the image fit in the sense of running lightly over rough roads.
