Daihatsu

A small sports car launched by Daihatsu. It removed the roof of the Compagno Berlina, the company's first passenger car, and gave it a stowable soft top, with its styling design entrusted to Vignale, an Italian carrozzeria. As a sporty model its engine was given more power, with displacement enlarged to 958 cc and, with a compression ratio of 9.5 and two carburetors, a maximum output of 65 PS at 6,500 rpm. With a style unlike a Japanese car and an easy size, it sold steadily as a car for connoisseurs, but production stopped when Daihatsu came under Toyota's umbrella.
