Mazda's history of rotary-engined cars began with the Cosmo Sport. Right after the first oil crisis came the Cosmo AP, a luxury specialty car that inherited the name. The generation that followed pursued aerodynamics, with four retractable headlights and a thin radiator grille. It then became the Eunos Cosmo, a luxury personal coupe for Eunos dealers. It went out of production, and went out of sale once the remaining stock was sold.
