Overview
A compact car that, in Toyota's lineup, was the successor to the Starlet. The name Vitz was coined from the German word Witz, meaning wit or esprit. It debuted at the Paris Motor Show under the name Yaris, and was also built at the French plant under the name Yaris. From the second generation it also began to be sold in the North American market as the Yaris. It was announced that a new model named Yaris would go on sale, the Vitz being its predecessor.
