The S401 at the end of the model's life

The development concept for the third generation was "perfecting the Legacy." Near the end of the model's life, at the strong wish of Katsurada, then its chief engineer, the "Legacy S401 STi version," specially tuned by STI, was sold in a limited run of 400 cars. Its engine was hand-assembled by skilled workers and balanced.
