Three reasons for a sliding door

Adopting a sliding door for the seventh-generation Move had been decided early in planning, and was a given by the time Tokura was named chief engineer. There were three reasons. The share of sliding-door models among kei passenger cars was rising, along with understanding of their safety and peace of mind, not just convenience. Many customers keep their cars for more than ten years, so they thought something big was needed to move the slow-moving tall-wagon market. And there was the success of the Move Canbus, which put sliding doors on a tall body and became quite a hit.
