Overview

A lightweight sports car that went on sale in the United States first and in Japan later the same year. When the development team settled on an open body and rear-wheel drive, it used the phrase jinba ittai, horse and rider as one, to share the kind of enjoyment it was aiming for, and that phrase has been carried on as the car's emblem ever since. As a two-seat open sports car, its cumulative production earned it an entry in Guinness World Records.
