Overview

A brand (trademark) and model name of Suzuki's hatchback kei cars. The first generation went on sale as a commercial-vehicle sister car to the Fronte and set off the kei bonnet van boom. It adopted the first nationally uniform vehicle price in the auto industry, launching at a low price of 470,000 yen. The Alto Works series was added, and it was later revived; the Alto Works, the first kei car with a twin-cam turbo engine, is the top model of the Alto series. The Alto has since moved on to the ninth generation.
