Overview
Named by combining the WR of the WRC (World Rally Championship) with the RX used for sports grades of models such as the Leone. The first-generation Impreza was developed with the WRC challenge in mind, and its WRX was a sedan with a 2.0-liter BOXER turbo. The WRX became independent from the Impreza series, with the WRX S4 and WRX STI appearing. The second-generation WRX S4 appeared later and is described as the current model.
