A shape of many curves, aimed beyond the regions
The third generation was a model meant to win not only the regional areas that had been Daihatsu's main battleground, but also urban areas and export markets. The body was made slightly larger and given an aerodynamic shape with a Cd of 0.32. In charge were in-house designers Hiroshi Aoki and Hideyuki Ueda, who used many curved surfaces and tapered the rear, giving it an emotional shape reminiscent of French cars.
